Tim Emmons is a veteran coal mining professional with 30+ years in the coal mining industry with extensive experience in electrical mine maintenance, safety, training & development, and compliance. Tim has worked in several capacities with some of the nation’s leading coal mining companies.

Tim has served as Maintenance Trainer with Peabody Energy’s Midwest Training Center for six years. Prior to Peabody, Tim has also served as Chief Electrician in multiple underground mines, Assistant Maintenance Superintendent with Five Star Mining, and Maintenance Manager with Black Beauty Coal Company just to name a few.

In addition, Tim is the Chairman of the Indiana State Board of Mining and implemented the State of Indiana Electrical Qualification Program. Tim holds an MSHA Instructor Card for EB, ED, EC, EE, ES, IU, ER, and MR. He is expert with high voltage repair and maintenance, repair of AC/DC control & power circuits and programmable controls. Tim has competed and won State Titles in rescue team contests in the states of Indiana and Illinois.

Leadership Accomplishments

  • Chairman of the Indiana State Board of Mining for twenty years
  • Implemented the State of Indiana electrical qualification program allowing individuals to obtain their MSHA qualification through an approved State testing program
  • Holds all certificates for Indiana: mine foreman, fire boss, electrician, shot firer, and belt examiner
  • Federal: underground and surface electrical cards
  • Indiana Mine Rescue Team from 1986 until 2004 as an active team member and was captain of the first team to compete in the state
  • Served on the Mining Board for the State of Indiana for eight terms and Chairman of the Board for approximately 21 years
  • Recipient of two “Sagamore of the Wabash Awards” from Indiana Governors Robert Orr and Evan Bayh for voluntary service as a member of the State Mining Board
  • Trained new employees at J & R, Coal, Coal Incorporated, Black Beauty Underground, Five Star, White River Coal, Pride Mine, and White River Coal Hazleton Mine, Francisco UG Mine ,and Peabody Energy’s Midwest Training Center
  • Instrumentally involved with the State of Indiana and MSHA in implementing a joint state/federal electrical program (pending approval)
